GENDER REVEAL:
Being a first time mom, I am not too far removed from my own gender reveal and baby shower. The gender reveal was great! Our living room was flooded with friends and family donning blue & pink. Favors were passed around in "boy and girl" colors, we even had a "pool" to see who would guess correctly after we cut the cake. When BLUE was the color that emerged from our delicious dessert the room exploded with excitement and tears -- the world would soon know Justin Tyler Smith.
Looking back it was missing one little thing... a photo booth.
A PHOTO BOOTH?? You mean -- spend that much money on a 3 hour event?? Yes. I do. I wish I had done it, and here's why: before the reveal and after the reveal.

BEFORE THE REVEAL: Guests sit in front of a pink and blue sequin backdrop - split down the middle. Your friends and family don't have to depend on someone to take photos of everyone's theories and well wishes: the booth captures them as well as their outfits, sweet messages written on a chalk board or dry erase board, fun props of "It's a Boy" or "It's a girl" and hats, glasses, and other fun things in the signature blue and pink (and, of course, some yellow and green for the "I don't care, I just want a healthy baby" decisions! I remember "hoping someone" was taking pictures before, during, and after. Luckily, we got a couple shots from some amazing people - but having the booth there would have guaranteed more interaction and fun! After each photo everyone can put an extra photo strip in a guest book album for mom & dad to look back on later! It's one thing to have a phone full of photos; but to have a photo book that you can look back on is priceless! (not to mention all the photos from the booth are also given to the host electronically so they can be shared through email and social media)

AFTER THE REVEAL: Take down the color that "didn't win!" Toss the props that are no longer needed! Now for the real excitement! Your guests can now CELEBRATE! Imagine all the fun memories to share with your little
one (and yourselves) in the following years. I laugh thinking of my dad, proudly wearing his bright pink shirt, holding a sign that says "LOSER" in front of him and my mom (in blue, of course) holding a "WINNER" sign! I smile thinking of multiple people having a blast, creating memories, and wishing our new baby well...all at the same time.
So, yes -- a photo booth would have been the perfect addition to the big reveal! It would have been money well spent on priceless keepsakes for our family and fun memories for our friends and family. I would have gladly skipped the candy bowls and plastic pacifier necklaces for a booth!
BUT -- if you already know what you're having and it's time for the BABY SHOWER -- once again -- I wish we had a booth set up.
BABY SHOWER:

Here's the deal: a simple, open air photo booth, takes up about 8 ft x 8 ft of space. In most homes one can fit easily in a corner of a living room, in a spare bedroom, the dining/breakfast room, or even the garage! It's engaging, fun, and entertaining. But -- even more so at a baby shower! There are ton's of fun props of every color of the rainbow! Is your baby shower themed? Our baby shower was "Blue & Rustic," so we could have had a brown wood/pallet back drop with some fun "It's a boy" letters on a banner strung across it. Guests could have sported blue cowboy hats and mustaches.
I envision little sports themed showers with hats and balls and foam fingers. Baby duck themed with rubber duckies and giant rattles. I see a baby shower fit for a princess with a mermaid sequin backdrop, tiaras, flowers, and wands! Star Wars themed with light sabers and Darth Vader masks!
The possibilities are as endless as your imagination. The beauty of the photo booth is that, as in the gender reveal, you aren't having to ensure someone else is taking photos and you're left with a beautiful book full of memories, laughs, well wishes, and excitement for your new little one!
No matter the event, no matter the location, a photo booth is a guaranteed success with your guests and your memories! The customization options are endless and the memories are priceless.
